WHAT WE DO

An international group with nearly 80 years of design and manufacturing experience.

Nelson-Miller, Inc. started on its path to success with Miller Dial, which was founded by Dawson Miller in 1937 as a small metal shop located on the outskirts of Los Angeles.  The small manufacturer provided metal luminescent dials for the aerospace industry.  Over the years the company expanded its capabilities to graphic overlays and later to engineering and manufacturing membrane switches.

Fred Nelson worked for Dawson Miller and branched out in 1946 to form his own company – Nelson Nameplate.  Nelson started his company with a dream and enough equipment to fill a modest 1,000 square foot warehouse in Los Angeles.  In 2003 Nelson Nameplate became a proud recipient of the Environment Protection Agency’s Environment Award of Outstanding Achievement and had Governor Schwarzenegger sign a legislation at Nelson Nameplate implementing First-in-the-Nation Green Chemistry Program.

The two longtime local competitors, Miller Dial, Inc. and Nelson Nameplate, came back together in April of 2011 to form Nelson-Miller, Inc.  Today, with approximately 270 domestic employees, a national sales team serving the entire United States, and off-shore capabilities, Nelson-Miller, Inc. has become the most capable global supplier of membrane switches, silicone rubber keypads, graphic overlays, metal nameplates, light guides, modules, assemblies as well as the leading innovative solutions provider for custom applications.

OUR UNIQUE PROCESS

Although we price projects on a case by case basis, this is a guide to the services we offer to our clients.

DESIGN

Each project is assigned to an engineer who will work to understand your unique design requirements, and will work with you every step of the way to ensure that the final product is to your perfection.

PROTOTYPING

If necessary, prototype services are available. In general, most clients issue an order for non-recurring charges, such as tooling and preparation, and accept the first article units as prototype parts. There is no risk to our clients until the first article units are approved.

PRODUCTION

Depending on your requirements, Nelson-Miller is capable of producing your parts overseas, or in their 85,000 square foot facility in Los Angeles, CA.
